It’s official: the Marilyn Manson comeback is in action to music with a hit new single and tour.
Marilyn Manson Comeback Begins
On Aug. 2, the global Marilyn Manson comeback began with release of his new single “As Sick As the Secrets Within” — that was co-produced with Tyler Bates, who previously worked with Manson on his Pale Emperor and Heaven Upside Down albums. Bates is fresh off his work from Ti West’s Maxxxine and the collaboration is an addictive one that prompts multiple listens on repeat.
To go along with the new song, Marilyn Manson also released a gorgeous music video that was directed by Billy Ukich with a lot of thought put into each and every set and shot. The level of detail woven into the project highlights Manson’s famous artistry and attention to symbolism remains intact.
The Marilyn Manson “As Sick As the Secrets Within” runtime clocks in at over five minutes and the song has been very well received by fans and critics alike. The song rose quickly to the #1 spot on both rock and metal charts and also hit #4 worldwide – a major accomplishment for an artist that was so widely and unceremoniously canceled four years ago with limited marketing. Manson is entering his fourth decade in music and is doing so with a fresh sound and crooning vocals.
As if a new song and music video was not enough, a Marilyn Manson comeback tour also kicked off on Aug. 2 with his first live performance since January 2021. Five Finger Death Punch invited him along as a special guest on their North American tour that began at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Also on the lineup is The Funeral Portrait from Georgia and Slaughter to Prevail from Russia.

HERSHEY, PA SETLIST
It was a sweltering hot summer day but that didn’t spoil the excitement of fans who had traveled far and wide to be there when the curtain dropped for Manson’s first performance back. He opened the show with We Know Where You Fucking Live off his Heaven Upside Down album. The 50-minute set also included:
Disposable Teens, Angel with Scabbed Wings, The New Shit, Say 10, Deep Six, Tourniquet, Mobscene, The Dope Show, his cover of the Eurythmics ‘Sweet Dreams’, The Love Song and The Beautiful People as the closer.
Performing with Marilyn Manson for his Summer 2024 is Reba Myers from Code Orange, Piggy D, Gil Sharone and Tyler Bates. Dates run through August and September with Manson hitting the stage before Five Finger Death Punch.
The audience of his first show was comprised of longtime Marilyn Manson fans and festival goers who have missed his presence on the music scene these last few years. His wife Lindsay Usich and several friends were in attendance as well as YouTuber Colonel Kurtz – who was the first voice of reason that said his cancellation was unjust.
FIRST HEADLINING SHOW
On Aug. 3, the Marilyn Manson comeback tour turned to “The Filmore” in Silver Spring, Maryland for his first headlining show since 2019. Fans weren’t at all phased by the challenging weather as they stood in line through torrential downpours for the chance to be as close to the stage as possible. The doors opened at the same time as the sky – with sunshine and a rainbow cutting through.
The headlining date opened with performances by The Funeral Portrait and Slaughter to Prevail. Then, Marilyn Manson hit the stage around 9:30 pm – opening with Cruc-ification in Space off his iconic Mechanical Animals album. The set also repeated several songs from the FFDP show as well as added classics like Great Big White World and Third Day of a Seven Day Binge.
Most notably was the first LIVE performance of his new single “As Sick as the Secrets Within” — with the crowd knowing every single word despite the song being less than 48-hours old.
Manson’s highly anticipated and well-deserved return to music is really a rather special thing to see taking place. All efforts to cancel him failed as he triumphantly returns fully sober with new music, a new label and a new tour. His most prominent accuser Evan Rachel Wood even audaciously claimed in a MAX project that Manson isn’t even a man anymore but totally dead.
Well for a corpse, he both looks and sounds great while performing for eager audiences who have very much missed him over the last few years.
Wood of course has been found to filed forged evidence in court to push a false narrative amongst her connection to other misconduct. Manson filed a lawsuit against her and her employee Ashley Illma Gore in March 2022 that is still working its way through the courts (albeit very slowly).
HEADING TO EUROPE
Marilyn Manson’s return to music also brings news that he’ll be traveling overseas to Europe for a tour that kicks off in February 2025. The Milan date sold out in under 24 hours.
He’s proudly living sober now and his enthusiasm and love for his fans on stage is undeniable. At a New Jersey show, he reminded the audience we’ve seen a successful Marilyn Manson comeback once before when he faced misplaced blame for the horrific Columbine High School shooting. He came back with his Holy Wood album — one many argue is his best work.
So we know a Marilyn Manson comeback as possible and we’re watching it happen again in real time.
It’s quite remarkable how he continues to stand strong opposite everyone’s continued efforts to cancel him. And even if with no label or no tour, there will never be a way to erase the legacy of his cultural impact through music. Fortunately that isn’t the case and he’s embraced by audiences who have resoundingly stood by him.

He’s a free man and artist who has every right to perform again and it’s great to see him back!
